Jonathan Sable is more than just a coach; he is a program-builder, a competitive strategist, and a dedicated educator. With over 14 years of experience developing lacrosse talent in the tri-state area, Coach Sable founded Sable Sports Group to provide athletes of all ages with the technical blueprint and high-IQ training required to dominate on the field.
The Foundation: From Long Island to the NCAA
A Long Island native and Lynbrook High School alum, Coach Sable grew up in the heart of lacrosse culture. He took that passion to Manhattanville College, where he proved his versatility and “team-first” mentality, competing as a defenseman for three years before stepping into the cage as a goalie during his senior season. This unique transition gave him a 360-degree understanding of the field that he now passes on to his students.
The Architect: Building Programs from the Ground Up
Coach Sable’s coaching career is defined by growth and longevity:
- Varsity Program Builder: Over 14 years, he transformed a single middle school team in the Rye Neck School District into a fully competitive Varsity program.
- Elite Club Leadership: As the Head of Operations for Predators Lacrosse, he has overseen training design and program structure, helping countless athletes navigate the complex college recruiting process.
- RCDS & Rye Youth: Currently serving as the Head Assistant Coach at RCDS and a long-time fixture in Rye Youth Lacrosse, Coach Sable has a proven track record of developing players from their first scoop to their final whistle.
The Philosophy: Coach as Teacher
When he isn’t on the sidelines, Jonathan is in the classroom as a History Teacher at Rye High School. His dual career as an educator and a coach allows him to bring a unique “pedagogical” approach to training.
He doesn’t just run drills; he teaches the why behind the movement. His coaching philosophy mirrors his classroom environment: patient, energetic, and deeply invested in personal growth.
